Frequently Asked Questions
Studios A and B are fully sound-treated and receive consistent praise from audio professionals for their acoustic quality. While minor external sounds may occasionally be heard—similar to any soundstage—this is uncommon. For optimal sound production, HitMaker Studio A is especially recommended.
Yes. Studio A features both white and chroma-green cycloramas, included with the hire. We’ll confirm your preferred option in advance so production can be set accordingly. Each cyclorama measures approximately 12 meters wide by 6 meters high, with a matching floor depth of around 4 meters. The space also includes theatrical black curtains around much of the studio.
Studio B does not have built-in cycloramas, but it does offer a 5-meter chroma-green wall suitable for tighter shots, as well as matte black walls. Paper backdrops (e.g., white, 3 meters wide) can be arranged in consultation with the Studio Manager.
Studio A includes 3 reserved parking spaces and a loading bay that can accommodate approximately 2 trucks or 3 standard vehicles. There is also ample all-day free street parking available within several surrounding blocks. Directly in front of the studio, you'll find 10 two-hour parking bays ideal for loading or short visits. A detailed parking map is available for download on our Contact Us page.
Lighting setups are entirely flexible and depend on your production needs. In Studio A, most clients light from the floor, though overhead lighting is possible in certain situations. A fixed ceiling grid is available for hire and must be operated by a qualified gaffer, who will ensure all weight limits and safety guidelines are followed. The grid is positioned at 6.4 meters high, so access typically requires scissor lift hire.
Studio B features a lower ceiling and includes a scaffold lighting grid as part of the hire. Please note that Studio B runs on standard domestic power.
In many cases, we can accommodate early drop-off or delivery of medium-sized items. For larger or heavier props and set builds, availability will depend on other studio bookings at the time. Early delivery—especially the day prior—typically incurs a fee and may require adjustments to staffing.
Next-day pickup of medium-sized gear or props can often be arranged, depending on studio availability. However, we’re unable to store or manage very large or heavy items. Please note that collections outside your booking time typically incur a storage and handling fee, and may require staffing adjustments.
Studio A offers convenient, same-level access via both a roller door and a standard door directly from the car park.
Studio B is accessed from the front of the building on Prohasky Street for all loading and unloading needs.
The building is equipped with domestic power throughout, and all equipment used in the studios must be tagged and tested. Studio A also features 2 x 32A Wilco 3-phase power outlets for productions requiring higher load capacity.
Yes, both Wi-Fi and Ethernet are accessible throughout all studios and adjoining rooms. Standard internet speeds of 100 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload are included with all bookings. For high-performance needs, FTTP NBN with speeds up to 1000 Mbps download and 400 Mbps upload can be arranged upon request for an additional fee.
HitMaker provides standard waste disposal for personal items. However, we do not accommodate larger volumes of waste, such as packaging or building materials. If you require specialized waste removal, please speak with the studio manager to make arrangements.
Yes, we have a network of experienced freelance professionals and are well-connected with the talent available in Melbourne. With sufficient notice, we can source the necessary crew or equipment for your production. Additionally, HitMaker occasionally offers production management services, overseeing both crew and facilities for select projects.
Yes, we have accessible facilities for all visitors. There is a permanent ramp at the front entrance, and same-level access to the studios at the rear. All studio-related rooms are on this level, and there is an accessible bathroom available on-site.
Yes, HitMaker is equipped with core-drilled conduits between the Control Space and the Studios, allowing cables to be run discreetly without obstructing doorways.
Additionally, SDI and Ethernet cabling are available in most spaces. These require patching and should be discussed with a studio manager prior to your booking to ensure proper setup.
While we don't typically arrange catering ourselves, we can recommend some of the "usual suspects" in the area. Let us know if you need suggestions, and we'll be happy to point you in the right direction.
Yes, HitMaker offers an entire level of furnished office space, available for short- and medium-term productions. Please discuss your specific requirements with a Studio Manager to arrange the best setup for your needs.
